9-10-10 Area of the inside of the track!!
Option 2: Continue the football question for yesterday. Collect all the measurements needed to figure out how much field turf would be needed to cover the football field (and surrounding grass).
Include the following in your blog:
Dimensions of the football field (1 point)
Dimensions collected (3 points)
Areas of the polygons-include work (5 points)
Units you used (1 point)
Final answer (2 points)
Write 3-10 sentences describing your thought process. Give enough details so that it is evident that you understand the concept of area. (8 points)
Due Monday
The dimensions of the football field is 360 feet by 90 feet.
The dimensions we collected were the amount of space on the sides of the football field before the track. They were each 20 feet. Length of the playing field, and width of playing field.
The area of the rectangle part of the field is 46,800 square feet. The area of the circle is 4,225 pi which is about 13273.23 square feet.
We did length of the field 360ft x 130 ft width of entire turf =46,800 square feet. Then radius of the circle 65 x 65 x pi= 13,273.23 square feet. Then added them together for the grand total of: 60,073.23 square feet.
We converted everything to feet for measuring the field.
The amount of turf Mr. Trudo need is about 60,073.23 square feet.

9-1 geo area assignment
Answer the following questions in your blog. Please copy the images into the blog so that others can follow your work.
Problem 1:
Define area in your own words.
Problem 2:
1. What is the area of this irregular figure? (Assume each square is 1 cm x 1 cm)
Don’t forget the label.
2. List your thought processes. (This should include 3-5 sentences.)
1. The area of the figure would be about 30 cm squared.
2. The area of the figure is about 30 cm squared. I would say this because it is about the size of a 5cm by 6cm rectangle. Parts of it extend outside that rectangle, but other parts are not inside the rectangle. That is why I say 30 cm squared would be a good estimation for the area.
Problem 3:
What is the area of the figure?
What label do you think you’d use if this is a small pond? A small lake?
